How to Upload and Set Up Your ForexInstincts EA on MetaTrader

You built your bot on ForexInstincts. You've paid, your EA was generated, and you've downloaded the file. Now you need to get it running. This guide walks you through the complete process — from file to live chart — in under ten minutes.

Step 1: Download Your EA File

Open your ForexInstincts dashboard and click Download. You will receive a .ex4 file for MetaTrader 4, or a .ex5 file for MetaTrader 5, depending on what you selected during configuration. Save it somewhere you can find easily — your desktop works fine.

Step 2: Place the File in the MetaTrader Experts Folder

Open MetaTrader. In the top menu click File → Open Data Folder. A file explorer window opens. Navigate into:

• MQL4/Experts/ for MetaTrader 4
• MQL5/Experts/ for MetaTrader 5

Copy your downloaded EA file into this Experts folder.

Step 3: Refresh the Navigator

Back in MetaTrader, find the Navigator panel on the left. Right-click on Expert Advisors and select Refresh. Your bot will appear in the list under the name you gave it during configuration.

Step 4: Enable AutoTrading

Look for the AutoTrading button in the top toolbar — it should be green when active. If it is grey or shows a red X, click it once to enable it. No EA will place trades without AutoTrading turned on.

Step 5: Attach the EA to a Chart

Open a chart for the currency pair and timeframe you configured your bot for. In the Navigator panel, double-click your EA or drag it onto the chart. A properties dialog will appear.

Step 6: Check the Settings

In the Inputs tab you will see all the parameters from your bot configuration — lot size, stop loss, take profit, magic number, and any advanced features. These are pre-filled with your values. In the Common tab, ensure Allow live trading is checked, then click OK.

Step 7: Confirm It Is Running

A smiley face icon appears in the top-right corner of the chart. Happy smiley = running. If it shows a sad face, check the Experts tab at the bottom of MetaTrader for error messages. Common issues:

• AutoTrading disabled — click the AutoTrading button in the toolbar
• Live trading not allowed — re-open EA properties, check the Common tab
• Wrong symbol — detach and reattach on the correct chart

Running 24/5 With a VPS

To keep your bot trading around the clock without leaving your computer on, use a VPS (Virtual Private Server). Install MetaTrader on the VPS, copy your EA file there, and attach it to a chart — the bot runs continuously even when your PC is off. Many brokers offer free VPS services to active accounts.
